Filthy Rich… I like it already. 71%???… i like the extra 1% already. I received 2 bars of this. The first I ate. I love dark chocolate, but sometimes it can be too rich, too bitter or even to heavy – depending on the brand you buy. However Chocolate and Love’s Filthy Rich bar (I so love the name) was light, chocolatey, not bitter and had a really good texture to it. Like the orange mantra one, I found myself wanting to savour this. I single this point out as willingly savouring chocolate is something I do not do.. but honestly I actually felt good after eating it.. perhaps borderline euphoric..
I wanted to do a little comparision with a couple of other brands and so to be fair I roped in my wife and and my sister, both equally fussy about chocolate, for a little bit of a taste test… we tested it against had some Lindt 70% Dark, some Green & Black’s 70% Dark and also Divine 70% Dark for comparison. It really highlighted the differences, some really major ones, between the brands and also how taste can often be negatively affected when a major conglomerate takes a brand over. All three of us preferred Chocolate and Love over the others.. my sister by a long shot.
The rankings in terms of taste and overall chocolate pleasure:
1. Chocolate and Love
2. Lindt
3. Divine
4. Green & Blacks

The bar is a lovely 100g bar in a wrapper that extols the ethical origins of the cocoa beans. I just love the wrapper and how it displays the information about the beans and ethical origins of the bar. It really displays a passion for chocolate and ensuring the chocolate doesn’t harm the environment. It is also gluten free, dairy free, GMO free and safe for vegan diets! The chocolate itself as has a very slight burnt flavour coming through as the chocolate melts in the mouth. It is smooth with a lovely flavour and isn’t too sweet or bitter. It isn’t as acidic as I usually like as I am a huge fan of the fruity flavours I tend to get in Soma chocolate but the chocolate isn’t bitter which is a huge bonus because too many dark chocolate bars are bitter.
I really hope, dear readers, that you will consider making an ethical purchase and buy this for cooking, eating or sharing!

I am lucky enough to have been asked by Chocolate and Love to try their chocolate, come up with a verdict and tell you lovely folks all about it. I couldn't taste and write this verdict without my chocolate adoring other half, and here's what we have to say about it (and just so you know I'm still nibbling on the chocolate as I'm writing for you now).....The flavours represent every chocolate lover’s dream, one that might be richer than sweeter (just how 'real deal' chocolate should be) but the kind that you hope will never end. It has a very smooth taste that overwhelms your mouth and its wild smell always encourages another bite. Make no mistake; this brand belongs on the same shelf right next to the best known chocolate brands. The only thing that sparks a difference is the packaging which is not as fancy as of some of its counterparts, but instead it offers simplicity that makes it stand out. The earthy look gives it a feel of sincerity which you will believe in once you try it. And if you don't tear apart the packing too quickly to get your mouth wrapped around this decadence you'll find that the inside, so creatively, has some interesting and reassuring information about the sourcing of the cocao. Oh and as you probably guessed... it is organic.
We've tasted 2 flavours of the many to be selected from Chocolate and Love's website. 71% "Filthy Rich" (which you certainly don't need to be to buy this brand of chocolate) was the first.
This is great gift for those loved ones, for your own sneaky nibbling, and of course for many of your up and coming Christmas baking! I will be hosting a dinner party next week which I most certainly plan to use this chocolate for whipping up a heavenly dessert. Stay tuned!
